Each January the Council President hosts a toiletry drive to support survivors of human trafficking. Both District Offices are listed as drop-off locations.
One important thing to flag is that we do not accept travel-sized donations for this drive.
Dear friend,
This morning I launched my annual drive to collect toiletries for survivors of human trafficking.
As many of you know, ending human trafficking in Los Angeles is a top priority for me. The toiletry drive is just one of the ways I try to help and support survivors.
But why toiletries?
Survivors of human trafficking often escape with little more than the clothes they are wearing. For a woman or childwho has lost everything, these toiletries can provide comfort and help restore a sense of normalcy.
The Drive began today, and will continue through Friday, February 11, 2022. My office is collecting shampoo, soap, hair products, dental products, feminine hygiene items, and more. You can also give gift cards to be used by survivors to purchase their own toiletries. We ask that you not donate travel size products.
All items and gift cards will be donated to CAST, Saving Innocence, and Journey Out, which arethree L.A.-based organizations that provide wrap-around services and compassionate care to survivors of human trafficking.
Given our current situation with COVID-19, please contact my office to help coordinate a contactless drop off or pick-up.
Thank you,
Nury
