BASIC INCOME GUARANTEED: L.A. ECONOMIC ASSISTANCE PILOT
The City of Los Angeles has created BIG:LEAP, the largest Guaranteed Basic Income pilot program in America, leading the nation in bold initiatives aimed at confronting poverty.
An estimated 3,000 applicants will be chosen at random to receive $1,000/month for one year.
Qualifying individuals will receive regular, direct cash payments. There are no restrictions on how the money can be spent. Roughly 3,500 applicants will be invited to participate in surveys, but will not receive a monthly cash deposit.
