Councilmember John Lee, Rep. Brad Sherman, Supervisor Kathryn Barger, and others are hosting a chat to help local businesses hold on.
The COVID-19 pandemic took a real toll on small businesses, many of which were already struggling. 7,500 small businesses in Los Angeles County were permanently shuttered in 2020, according to the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corp.
On June 3, many of District 12's elected representatives will take part in a "CD12 Business Resiliency" webinar to inform local businesses of the array of resources available to them as they reopen. The webinar is hosted by Councilmember John Lee, and will feature talks from U.S. Rep. Brad Sherman, U.S. Rep. Mike Garcia, Assemblymember Suzette Martinez Valladares, and L.A. County Supervisor Kathryn Barger.
In the meantime, Los Angeles County offers a number of online resources about how to obtain small business loans, grants, tax credits, and more:
- Small Business Resources – Consumer & Business (lacounty.gov)
- COVID-19: Information for Businesses (lacounty.gov)
- CA Relief Grants available for small business: next round starts Feb 2 - Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation (laedc.org)
