Volunteers: Have you been told that you are a good listener? Are you usually the one to comfort your friends and family in difficult times? Do you want make a difference in someone’s life? The Mayor’s Crisis Response Team is looking for kind and compassionate Angelenos to join our team.
Description: Members of the Crisis Response Team (CRT) are volunteers who respond to traumatic incidents at the request of the Los Angeles Police and Los Angeles Fire Departments. CRT volunteers provide immediate on-scene crisis intervention, act as a liaison between the victim and emergency personnel and give referrals to victims and their families affected by a death, a violent crime or other traumatic incidents. These incidents include homicides, suicides, traffic fatalities, officer involved shooting, death notification, infant deaths, natural deaths and multi-casualty incidents.
Notes on Application and Training: The training program is 9-weeks (6 hours a week, twice a week between 6pm and 9pm, at the Los Angeles, Police Administrations Building. This training provides volunteers with information, training and support to be able to respond to crisis situations as a member of the CRT. We require volunteers to be on-call 36 hours a month, to be deployed within their respective bureaus. A minimum of a one year commitment is required. You must be 21 years of age to apply.
